Romania: Alison | | | I’m now working with Casa Luminii Church in Slatina, southern Romania. I’m kept busy in all aspects of church life. My main focus is to assist young leaders here and throughout Southern Romania. I’m also involved nationally in the development of Romania’s growing missionary-sending movement. I first joined City Gates Church when I came to London to study Romanian. In March 2000 I moved to Bucharest, Romania. As well as teaching business English, I worked with several local churches. Until 2002 I was on the leadership team of Good News Church. I then worked with the youth and women at Evanghelia Church, a Roma church in Bucharest’s notorious Ferentari district. I was also involved in Romania’s national prayer network. In 2005 I moved to the village of SanAndrei, near Timisoara, to join the staff of a new Ministry Training School, set up by ARC Ministries. My role was very varied, including discipleship, teaching prayer, leading outreach, etc. After 18 months there, I spent a year back in London, studying for a Masters in Contemporary Mission Studies at All Nations Christian College as well as catching up with life at City Gates. | Uganda: River of Life Ministries Orphanage | Several teams from City Gates Church have visited the White Eagles Children's project over the years and we continue to give them monthly support. Duncan and Mary Kibaya first started the orphanage in 1999, taking 21 boys off the streets to sleep in a church hall. By 2000, they had raised enough funds to build the boys 6 bedrooms to share. The project has continued to grow with the start of a farm, planting vanilla, strawberries, mint and raising pigs! The next phase of the project is to expand the orphanage buidling to include a sitting/dining room, washroom facilities, and further bedrooms. All support in prayer and finances is warmly welcomed. India: Micah's Call International | | | MCI is a registered UK charity with a passion for helping people bring justice into this world. Two of the founders and Trustees are members of City Gates Church. One way MCI aims to help people act justly, is by running a child sponsorship program through a partner organisation in India. Some of the most vulnerable children in society are those orphaned by HIV / Aids. The sponsorship scheme helps to provide food, shelter, clothing, education , healthcare and much more for these children. If you are interested in sponsoring a child, giving a one off donation or in visiting India with MCI, please visit http://www.micahscall.org.uk/. | | | |
| Hong Kong: Ben | | | Ben is working with St Stephens, a society that provides the rehabilitaion of displaced persons such as victims of accidents, street sleepers, ex-prisoners, and those with problems of adjusting to society, many of whom have been drug abusers. Founded by Jackie Pullinger, they are eager to help those in need. Ben's work includes spending many hours in prayer and vigil with those who are going through the painful process of "cold turkey" i.e. coming off drugs without any medical or other relief. For more information about St Stephen's, visit http://www.ststephenssociety.org/. To contact Ben, email
