Glocal
London is one of the world's most multi-culturally diverse cities. Among its 7.7 million residents are people of 270 nationalities speaking over 250 languages.
With the world on its doorstep, London presents Christians with a challenging mission field: one that fuses the global with the local.
City Gates' Glocal ministry works with London's international community to give them practical, social and spiritual support during their time in the city.
Coordinated by the international chaplain, the ministry hosts an assortment of activities throughout the year, designed to welcome non-UK residents to the church family and help them integrate into London life.
Overseas visitors are welcome to join the church for worship, prayer and teaching at the English-speaking service each Sunday, and to participate in activities such as English classes, social gatherings and discussion groups.
City Gates hopes to partner each person involved in the Glocal ministry with a Christian from the church, to meet one-to-one on a regular basis. These sessions could feature a language exchange, Bible study or just a friendly coffee.
Other Glocal projects include the City Gates International Hospitality Week, an event where church members are encouraged to invite one person from overseas to their house for food and fellowship.
